Church Partnership FAQs
-
Campers can register directly through the Dunes Summer Camps portal. Partner churches may also coordinate group registrations with us, but each camper must at least complete an individual health form through our website. Please contact us if you want to consider a group registration. Registration deadlines and instructions will be provided in advance to ensure a smooth process.
-
We will not close registration until camps become full. Your church may let us know how many campers you intend to bring, and we will reserve spots for them until June 1st. After this date, open spots will be given to the first campers to register.
-
The training covers abuse prevention, counseling guidelines, and team-building strategies. It ensures all leaders are equipped to provide a safe, supportive and Christ-centered environment. We have also found it vital to come together, unified as one team working together to reach our youth.
-
Staff and volunteers must fill out the Church Partner Staff Application and Background Check Consent Form.
-
Yes; even if your church has completed a check, Dunes must perform its own to ensure consistency and compliance with our policies.
-
Housing is divided by gender, with two leaders assigned to each cabin whenever possible. Leaders may share cabins with campers from their church. If your church has specific cabin arrangement requests for pairing leaders and students, we are happy to do our very best to accommodate them. We will often purposely assign individuals to your cabins if they are from your area, but not already connected with a youth group.
-
Yes, if there is room in your cabins! We see all staff as "Dunes Staff" for the week rather than staff of a particular church, and we ask you to view all Dunes campers as part of your ministry, not just the kids from your church. We ask churches to come to camp expecting that campers not with their youth group may be placed with their leaders if space allows. This is actually one of our goals in church partnerships - to connect disconnected kids with a church community - and we have seen God work in big ways through these placements!
-
Cabins range from 6-12 beds each.
-
If your group has specific requests of which leaders you’d like with which students, please send us this information ahead of time, and we will do our very best to accommodate these requests.
-
Individuals who do not attend the training may not serve in a leadership role during camp, including counseling or lead counseling. They may be offered a behind-the-scenes role if there is one available and appropriate. We strongly encourage finding volunteers who are not participating in the camp program to help with student transportation. Volunteers who participate in training report smoother camp experiences. Please contact us well in advance if you foresee any issues with this.
-
Currently no activities require waivers. There is a waiver regarding photos and videos that is part of our registration process.
-
Partner church volunteers can fill roles such as worship team support, craft leaders, nurses, lead counselors, or activity coordinators. Let us know if anyone in your group is interested in serving!
-
Check out our camper Packing List for all the essentials. Modesty guidelines for clothing apply to campers and leaders.

In most cases, parents are responsible for picking up the camper. For medical issues, staff may drive a camper home or to a medical facility in rare situations. This is typically with a camp nurse.
-
We can make some accommodations, but staffing limitations mean we may ask your church to provide additional support. Notify us early so we can work together to ensure a positive experience.
